By MulhollandRight, I guess this is where I talk about myself and explain why I agreed to my boyfriend’s rather insane idea.
I’m 24 and I left my job as a secondary school science teacher at the beginning of 2014 because it was just… the worst idea I ever had. As of writing this I am now looking for the next step in my life, whatever that will be.
When we first started this blog (in November 2010) I was on a course in a London college to get my NCTJ qualification so I could become a journalist. I quit this because I realised that this really was not for me, plus the course itself was badly organised and the ethics behind the job were pretty questionable.
My love of video games really started when I received a PS1 for Christmas in 1996 and it never really stopped. True, it tapered off during university and was replaced by a fanatical love of film but now it is back with a vengeance. Seeing how teaching keeps me working from 7 am until 10pm but whenever I get a chance to chill it is usually with a games console in my mits.
Would I love to combine my love of creative writing and games in a job? Would I like to win the lottery? Maybe, maybe and hell yes.
I am lucky enough to have access to pretty much every main console on offer thanks to second hand offers and Father Christmas. If it was not for this then we really would not be attempting this.
I don’t really have a favourite genre. I would happily play most games as long as they don’t scare the bejesus out of me. There are plenty of games like that on this list… and I am really not looking forward to some of them. Especially Fatal Frame IV, even reading the blurb in the book gives me chills!
My list
Favourite game ever: The Sims 2 (simply because I lost so much of my life to it)
Favourite RPG: Fallout 3
Favourite Adventure: Grand Theft Auto IV
Favourite Strategy game: Kessen II
Favourite ‘God Game’: The Sims 2
Favourite Action game: Grand Theft Auto IV (well it IS an action-adventure)
Favourite FPS: Timesplitters: Future Perfect
Favourite Platform game: Super Mario Galaxy
Favourite Sports Game: SSX Tricky
Favourite Fighting Game: Tekken 3
Favourite Driving Game: Mario Kart Wii
Worst Game: Popstars (don’t worry, I rented it)
The List
Missing developer: Koei
Missing Series: Crash Bandicoot (the first one and the racing game were amazing)
Missing Game: Crash Bandicoot, Kessen II, Theme Hospital, Sim Tower, Mister Mosquito (it’s such a weird game that it should get there on originality alone)
Misrepresented series: Pokémon. I have no idea why Ruby/Sapphire is on there instead of the original Red/Blue (or Red/Green in Japan)
Overrepresented series: Mario… seriously… I know it’s good but still….
